Projects
affecting the District
The 2nd quarter scheduled canal maintenance
beagan 5/20/2008.
Additional preventative canal maintenance was performed in anticipation
of Hurricane Season.
1) Widening of I-95
In their board meeting of Feb 7th,, NPBHWCD issued a drainage permit
to Florida Dept Of Transportation (FDOT) for widening I-95 to 10
lane. This widening starts at Donald Ross Road and ends at Indiantown
Road. During the permitting process, the district had FDOT increase
the storm runoff storage on I-95 R/W in order to substantially reduce
the discharge into the district canal system. The discharge was
originally proposed at 80% of the present rate. The rate was then
further reduced by 70% per NPBHWCD requirement. This means that
after widening, I-95 discharge into the district shall be 24% of
what is at the present time. This will provide a substantial improvement
to the district drainage system performance.
2) Ongoing interfaces
- On a routine basis the board interfaces with South Florida Water
Management District (SFWMD), Town of Jupiter(TOJ), Palm Beach County
(PBC)Commission, Tallahassee, Federal Emergency Management Agency(FEMA),
and Environmental Protection Agency(EPA)
3) Relocation of Indiancreek Pkwy
Northern Palm Beach County Improvement District has widened Indian
Creek Pkwy to a 4-lane divided road and relocated it south in order
to improve the connection to Central Blvd. They obtained a permit
from the district to replace the 2 - 84” metal pipes w/ 3-84”
concrete pipes. This project was completed in 2007.
